Emily J. Simeone

Partner

Attorney & Mediator

Emily has been a practicing attorney for 25 years. Her primary focus has been in the area of family law including domestic violence. adoption, and mediation. She received her law degree from Nova Southeastern University in 1997. She was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida for two years.  She then moved into private practice in a Family Law Firm. After a move with her family to the west coast of Florida, She served as supervising attorney of the Lee County Family Court Unit which included supervising the Domestic Violence Unit, and improving and developing new practices and procedures in the family courts. Emily was instrumental in creating a system entitled "One Family, One Judge" whereby all family law cases were heard by one family law judge. This system improved the efficiency of cases for both judges and litigants.  Emily left her role as Family Court Supervisor to transition to a role of Circuit Court General Magistrate for the 20th Judicial Circuit Courts of Florida where she served from 2003-2008.

Emily completed the mandatory 40 hour mediation course in Florida in 2002.  She was certified as a Florida Supreme Court County Court mediator from March  2003 through March 2005, and as a Family Court mediator from March 2003 through March 2009.  Emily relocated to Colorado with her husband and four children in 2008.

Emily’s practice philosophy is non-adversarial. She strives to work with her clients to solve their issues with the least amount of court involvement possible.  This philosophy saves clients money, and results in less extended periods of time off of work to attend court hearings.  This philosophy is also what makes Emily successful in her role as a mediator.  In addition to mediation, Emily also has a passion for helping families achieve their goal of starting a family by guiding them through the legal process of non- traditional family formation.
